About HandiDoor

Innovation that begins with listening.

HandiDoor was founded in 2025 by a small team building a simple accessibility device alongside the people who'll use them.

Our story

How we got here.

  1. THE SPARK

    A question born from recovery.

A few years ago, our founder Nathaniel Troxel was in a severe car accident that left him with a broken femur and reconstructive hand surgery, relying on multiple walking aids to get around. Navigating his own home quickly became a daily challenge — and he started asking, who else is dealing with this?

  2. FROM TEAMMATES TO CO-FOUNDERS

An idea that took shape on campus.

Nathaniel and Xadrian first met as teammates on the Trinity football team, then reconnected in an entrepreneurship course on campus. Together with their shared backgrounds in entrepreneurship, they began developing a way to let users remotely open and close doors — restoring independence for people with mobility challenges. That idea became HandiDoor.

  3. LISTENING & RESEARCH

    More conversations.

We spent months in conversation conducting interviews with caregivers, mobility-aid users, occupational therapists, and independent living facilities. What we learned has directly shaped every part of HandiDoor.

  4. WHERE WE ARE TODAY

    Building alongside the community.

HandiDoor is in active research and development, working closely with the community we serve. We're continuing to refine the product with plans to launch in the near future.

“Get HandiDoor into the hands of those who need it the most.”
